Tabalet EastWest recording studio — vintage session, three musicians

The Beginning

A 1977 Temple of Sound

Tabalet was born in 1977 inside the thick stone walls of a late 19th-century Valencian farmhouse — an alquería — set among vegetable groves north of Valencia. The two music business visionnaires were acclaimed singer songwriter Lluís Miquel and young Catalonian business man Nacho Carreres. Together they envisioned a World Class state-of-the-art music studio in the middle of the , back then, totally unspoiled farmland of Alboraia. At the time the new studio was the first of its class in Valencia and one of the top in the Country. From its earliest days, the studio drew musicians who understood that great recordings require more than great equipment: they require a place that breathes. The folk traditional architecture, with its vaulted ceilings and thick wall with a brand new and modern design, gave the rooms an acoustic character that no modern construction could replicate. Decades of sessions — flamenco, classical, jazz, pop, world music — soaked into the walls, making Tabalet not just a studio but a living archive of Valencian musical culture. A cultural Landmark.

"The best recordings happen when the room itself becomes an instrument."

— Alfonso G. Rodenas, Chief Engineer

The New Chapter

Alfonso's Vision: A Studio Reborn

When Alfonso G. Rodenas — six-time Grammy Award-winning engineer — took on the restoration of Tabalet, he brought with him two decades of experience working at the highest levels of the Los Angeles-California international music industry . His vision was clear: honor the soul of the original studio while elevating every technical dimension to world-class standard. EastWest wording was added to the mother name to bring Western modernity together with Eastern tradition and the new Tabalet EastWest was reborn. The restoration has been meticulous — preserving the original acoustic design of Mike Lleweling Jones and the vaulted ceilings, the acoustic idiosyncrasies that made Tabalet legendary — while installing a signal chain worthy of any major studio on earth. The result is a place where the past and the future of recorded music coexist in perfect tension. The new project is currently developed and it is a work in progress, a labor of love that invites the whole Valencian artistic comunity to participate of, as well as foreign acts and artists attracted by the warmth and beauty of this land, people and History. In words of Mr. Rodenas, this building and what entails doesn't below to him, it is patrimony of the city and its culture and peoples.
